Gostosuras Doces

Crochet bag patterns and techniques for beginners

About

Gostosuras Doces is a free resource for learning to crochet bags. Every tutorial is written for people who know the basic stitches, or are just learning them, and want to turn them into something they can actually carry: a tote, a market bag, a small pouch.

What you will find here

  • Beginner patterns for simple bags made from one flat panel or worked in the round, with every row and round written out.
  • Bag patterns by type: totes, mesh market bags, shoulder and bucket bags, crossbody and phone bags, pouches and coin purses, and a few seasonal projects.
  • Technique guides for the parts that decide whether a bag lasts: yarn choice, dense stitches, base shapes, straps, handles, linings, closures, reinforcement and finishing.

If you are new, the best place to begin is How to Crochet a Bag, followed by the first bag pattern. The full list is on the Tutorials page.

How the tutorials are written

All patterns use US crochet terms. Hook sizes are given as a US size with the metric size in parentheses, yarn by its standard weight name and number, and measurements in inches with centimeters alongside. Patterns give a gauge and a stitch count at the end of each round or row that changes the count, so you can check your work as you go. Yarn amounts and working times are estimates: they change with your tension, your yarn and the size you make.

The images on this site are original flat illustrations and diagrams made to show construction: where a fold line sits, where increases go, how a strap is attached. They are drawings, not photographs of finished bags.

We do not publish invented reviews, ratings or testimonials, and we do not name or recommend specific yarn brands or shops. The site carries no affiliate links.

Corrections and suggestions

If a stitch count does not add up, a measurement looks wrong or a step is unclear, please tell us through the Contact page. Clear, working instructions matter more to us than anything else on the site, and corrections are always welcome.
